Details

Unleash your true potential aboard Trek's Fuel EX 9. You'll pedal efficiently and descend aggressively with Trek's super-smooth Full Floater rear suspension keeping pace with Fox's sweet fork dishing out 120mm of travel. Trek's ABP puts an end to skidding or skipping along the tops of stutter bumps while braking, too. So this rig can handle small bumps, what about big hits? Its Fox rear shock has 2 chambers to make your Fuel pedal incredibly well AND give you that bottomless feel. You'll also love the 10-speed XT drivetrain as well as the perfectly-sized Bontrager tires. And, the DT Swiss wheels are light enough to spin to the top and burly enough to open it up on the downhills.

Trek's Full Floater shock mount boasts two suspended points that allow the shock to "float" through its range of action for seemingly bottomless travel and excellent tracking over every type of terrain.
Trek's EVO rocker link is a one-piece, magnesium linkage that drastically increases rear-end stiffness and decreases total frame weight, too.
Want a world where the bicycle is the first option in transportation and recreation, not a mere afterthought? A world where you can ride to work safely, where your kids can get exercise going to and from school, where obesity is a thing of the past, where fun, well-built trails are as abundant as cul-de-sacs and alleys? Trek does too and they put $10 of their profits for each mountain bike purchased towards helping IMBA, the International Mountain Bicycling Association. In fact, Trek has committed to providing a minimum of $600,000 by the end of 2010. So, Trek is not only committed to bringing you a great bike but also to providing a safe, fun environment for you to use your bike. We're proud to work with Trek to create a world with more trails and safer roads to ride. One World Two Wheels.

Comments:

My wife and I ride our 2008 EX9 all over the West in the last. Home is So Cal where climbing is a part of the game. My Bike can out climb any of my friends bikes on the short technical stuff - they are 10 years younger too. On the single tracks my wheels are on the ground no matter what I do with my breaks - I have full control at all times. It has taken me a fair amount of time to understand how many options I have in tuning the front/rear shocks. I now can tell when its off by 10 lbs in either unit. It dances when I want it to... I can plow down any rock garden - the bike has been a wonderfull investment in my MTB development.

I like to use this on easy terrain -- I would prefer Specialized bike over this just because of the weight factor and suspension.

    Comments:

WOW! I was loyal to Specialized until I rode this bike. This bike handles like it is on rails in the dirt. I've taken turns on single tracks that I honesty thought I was going to wipe out. I believe the active braking system kept me from locking up my rear tire and giving me traction to make those sharp turns while braking. I've upgraded some parts like all good bikers do. I'm loyal to Shimano and Chris King so I've upgraded my EX9 to all XTR componets, Chris King hubs and headset. To top it off a set of Stans No-Tube rims with Kenda Nevagl tires. Overall great combo. Bike weight came down a bit bfor climbing; however, overall I love it!

Just finished first ride. Would still be hammerin' if my light worked. That's the effect it has on you! Have never ridden a bike this fast, not even my hardtail. Flat out rips! It lunges from beneath you.
